Born Casper Paul Branom on March 24th, 19??

As a child, and throughout his life, Casper Branom’s goal was to make people laugh. At the age of 10 he was performing his physical comedy (prattfalls and “clumsiness”) act in speak-easies for tips. “Drunks are easy to make laugh!”, Casper once commented in a Variety magazine interview. From there he literally fell into vaudeville, opening for such acts as the Three Stooges, Abbott and Costello, Kate Smith, Bob Hope, Judy Garland, and Rose Marie.

MOVIES: Vaudeville lasted just so long once the movie industry took off. Branom started as a stuntman in the movie business and finally got a role in “It’s a Wacky, Wacky, Wacky, Wacky, Wacky World”, playing alongside some of Hollywood’s top comedians. This was the role that put him on the map as a true comic talent. Then began a series of “Casper Branom” comedies, including the hits “How the West Got Wacky”, “Grab That Ghost”, and his WWII comedy smash hit, “Tanks for Nuttin”.

TELEVISION: In 1950 “The Casper Branom Show” debuted to rave reviews. This comedy/variety show was the venue Branom had always dreamed of. He could do pretty much whatever he wanted on it and always had major movie stars participating in the wackiness. It was THE show to be seen on. In 1952, Branom starred in another hit show, “Galactic Squad”. This Sci-fi/action show was the perfect vehicle for Branom’s comedy relief. Note: The show went on to inspire the likes of George Lucas (Star Wars), Stephen Speilberg (E.T.), Gene Roddenbury (Star Trek), and Glen Larson (Battlestar Galactica). Galactic Squad lasted 2 seasons in the ‘50’s, but then, due to it’s growing popularity, was revived in the ‘60’s and then again in the ‘70’s.

Throughout the years Branom has made guest appearances on many television shows and specials. His most recent appearances have been on the popular children’s show, “Sockville”. Casper Branom has been known for never looking his age and after all these years he still does look the same. And his comedy hasn’t changed much either. He’s still making people laugh.
