Where does that one sock go when it gets lost in the laundry? Well, it
goes to Sockville of course. Fueled by the imagination, Sockville is a
happy place for socks to live. There are socks of many different
colors, shapes, and sizes all working together to make Sockville a
better place. All the residents of Sockville are socks except for the
occasional glove and several talking items scattered throughout the
professor's laboratory.
Although socks never leave Sockville, they visit other places and
discover other things in the real world through the use of the
Sockulator. The Sockulator is the portal to the real world. This is
how socks arrive in Sockville, but this is also how socks in Sockville
learn about life outside of their world. Buttons and paper clips
instead of money power the clothes dryer-like machine which allows
Bobby Sox, Polly Esther, and the other inhabitants of Sockville to gain
such experiences while staying safe and cozy at home.
Occasionally, Professor Darning and Stinky jump into the Sockulator and
take an adventure that leads to foreign places like Great Mitten. They
also travel to neighboring towns like Bootville, Shoeland, and
Hatfield.
Professor Darning is the town's mentor. His laboratory, located in the
heart of Sockville, is an elaborate clothes dresser with multiple
floors of wonder. Stinky, his faithful yet curious assistant, always
seems to be getting into something, and pops up all over Sockville.
Bobby Sox and Polly Esther are the newest socks on the block. They
have just arrived in Sockville, and have much to learn. 1
